ABOUT ME

I’ve been taken astrophotography over 10 years, but my fascination for the firmament goes back to my childhood, during the time I lived in the region of Coquimbo, Chile,  owner of one of the most transparent and darkest  skies on the planet. There I had the opportunity to lead for the first time a telescope to the sky at the “Tololito” observatory, belonging to the Seminario Conciliar of La Serena. Friendly people at the observatory had the patience to answer my endless questions for whole afternoons and gave me my first telescope: a refractor of about 3” f/12, with wooden tripod and two eyepieces. That instrument which I still keep, kept me in love with the phases of the moon, the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter and the bright globular clusters in the Southern Hemisphere.

Currently I practice my profession of Agricultural Engineering in a transnational company dedicated to the protection of crops in central Chile. I´m always looking for dark sites for imaging.

From august 2017 I installed all my equipment at El Sauce Observatory on a remote basis. It is located at Río Hurtado Valley in Chile. With more than 300 clear nights per year, excellent seeing conditions and sharing the same skies with scientific observatories as CTIO, Gemini South and LSST, this is an amazing place for doing this hobbie!

As I contemplate these wonderful heavens, I meditate on the beautiful words of Psalm 8:3,4 "When I see your heavens, the works of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you formed, what is mortal man for you to keep in mind and the son of man to take care of?"
